Answer to question from last issue:

I’ve heard that there’s a Hawker® Lithium-Ion (6TLI) battery, is that true?

Yes, it’s TRUE! We call it the Hawker® ARMASAFE™ iON-X™ 6TLI battery. It’s a nominal 24-volt battery with 1100 CCAs and 90 Ah.

Currently, it’s undergoing qualification testing IAW MIL-PRF 32565C.

If you’re a battery aficionado (aka, nerd) this battery is a Type 2-B90: Type 2 meaning the Hazard Severity Level is ≤ 6 (per SAE J2464), B = high power…that's 1100 CCAs at 0oF (-18oC)…and 90 = 90Ah. Now, if you’re super-nerdy, see TABLE I. “Physical and Electrical Requirements” on page 10 of the MIL-PRF for more detailed specs.

For you battery-friendly (but not battery nerdy) folks, what does this mean compared to our Hawker® ARMASAFE™ Plus 6TAGM battery? Well, the ARMASAFE™ iON-X™ 6TLI has 2X the voltage, over 2X the energy (watt-hours), can provide 8.3 times more deep cycles (that’s 1000 or more), and weighs 25% less…at only 66lbs (30 kg).

Stay tuned for more details and a 6TLI webpage at hawkerbattery.com.

Did you know?

an individual Hawker® ARMASAFE™ Plus 6TAGM battery can be lifted by its integrated carrying handles while it’s is still in the shipping box?

The openings in the box top allow fingers to be slid through and down to reach the battery’s built-in handles.

Never use just the open slots of the cardboard shipping box to lift and/or carry the battery as they are not designed for that purpose.
