Answer to question from last issue:
Did the NSN (National Stock Number) for the Hawker® MIL PC G34/78 battery change?
Yes & No! Those of you that have ordered them in the past used 6140-01-600-5837…and that’s still an active/valid NSN.
However, the Defense Logistics Agency’s Logistics Information Service (DLIS) recently assigned it a second one…6140-01-676-7484…also an active/valid NSN.
We anticipate that one of the NSNs will eventually be obsoleted. If and/or when that happens, we’ll be sure to let you know. Until then, feel free to order the Hawker® MIL PC G34/78 by either NSN.
What common military asset uses these? Well, that’d be the JLTV when fitted with an Arctic Kit (cold-weather package). They’re also installed in many Non-Standard Commercial Vehicles (NSCV) used by U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and the Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service.
They provide 850 CCAs and 1500 PHCAs for engine start. And, 68 amp hours of energy…a continuous 3.4 amps for 20 hours…even when the engine is OFF!!!
